The Department seeks to provide an educational environment that enables students to specialize in both artistic and industrial production, while fostering interdisciplinary studies, international exchange programs, and academic collaborations. It aims to establish a sustainable academic structure that supports graduates in continuously developing their creativity, design capabilities, production skills, and professional competencies.
DEPARTMENT FACILITIES
The Department of Ceramics and Glass offers a project-based and practice-oriented curriculum designed to provide specialization in both artistic and industrial ceramics. The Department is equipped with continuously updated machinery, equipment, and technical infrastructure that support artistic and industrial ceramic production processes. This infrastructure enables students to gain practical experience in porcelain production and sanitaryware ceramics. The Department closely follows developments in ceramic design and manufacturing technologies, and its curriculum is regularly reviewed and updated to meet the evolving needs of contemporary ceramic education and industry. Through project-based courses, students have opportunities to spend part of their education in industrial settings, allowing them to gain firsthand experience of production processes and strengthen their professional practice. In addition, technical excursions, exhibitions, trade fairs, workshops, and similar activities enhance students' interaction with both the
ceramics industry and the broader artistic community. Students may further enrich their education by participating in Double Major Programs offered by the Departments of Traditional Turkish Arts and Painting, in accordance with their interests and academic achievements. Furthermore, elective courses in Artistic Ceramic Design and Industrial Ceramic Design encourage students to identify their areas of interest and develop expertise in their chosen fields. The Department actively supports international academic and cultural engagement through student and staff exchange programs. Within this framework, Erasmus+ exchange agreements are maintained with institutions in Spain, Italy, Latvia, and Portugal; the Mevlana Exchange Program is conducted with Kazakhstan; and the Farabi Exchange Program is implemented in cooperation with various universities across Türkiye. In addition, academic collaboration with Jingdezhen Ceramic University (China) continues through education and student exchange agreements, while students and academic staff are encouraged to participate in international exhibitions, trade fairs, workshops, and other collaborative academic and artistic activities.
